Gravel Garden
The Brief
To freshen up an old space and create an easy to manage garden with lots of planting interest and places to relax.
The solution
This garden had become overgrown and consisted of lawn with concrete paths within a walled enclosure. We decided that gravel would be the ideal option for ease of maintenance and as a base to showcase the new plants. Gravel is ideal as a mulch for drought tolerant plants and also provides good drainage to help prevent waterlogging.
Many of the shrubs and trees were retained as an established framework and a planting design was created to compliment and provide seasonal interest. We also managed to repurpose existing trellises, giving them a new lease of life.
