Outside Dining
The Brief
The owners of this house love to be outside and this south facing part of the garden was an ideal spot for some alfresco dining. They asked for lots of highly scented flowers with tactile and soft planting based on dusky pinks, blues and white to create a welcoming and relaxing mood.
The Solution
This part of the garden had been an overgrown, forgotten space so the owners cleverly transformed it with a large terrace, pergola and barbecue for easy entertaining, leaving plenty of room on the lawn for the children to play.
Mainly used as a space for summer entertaining, deciduous pleached hornbeam was ideal for creating seasonal screening, with lower growing Pittosporum, standard lollipop Lonicera and Euphorbia to add evergreen structure to the understorey. The borders were then filled with successional perennial flowers, roses and herbs to stir the senses.
