Swimming Pool Garden

The Garden in July
The Garden in July

The Brief

To refresh the existing border surrounding the swimming pool with a modern romantic style with roses and perennials in soft calming hues.

The Solution

The pool had been built over 20 years ago and the established border was becoming overgrown and needing to be up-dated. The main borders were on the North and East facing sides of the pool with seating and sunbathing space to the South and West. This is an enclosed part of the garden and the established yew hedging around the pool was a great backdrop. Trees are never a good idea near water, due to the leaves constantly dropping in the pool, so to add a vertical element to the borders, we chose wooden obelisks to train roses up and around. More shrub roses were planted amongst soft Nepeta, Salvias, Galega and Phlox in pale lavenders, pinks and whites so there was an abundance of flowers from early to late summer when the family would enjoy it most.
